From: 22,00

Reproduction of the famous bronze statue by Benvenuto Cellini, representing Perseus holding the head of Medusa.
Product in bronzed resin with marble base, made in Tuscany and finished by hand.
The statue is to be found under the Loggia dei Lanzi, which is part of the Gallerie degli Uffizi.

Completed in 1554, almost ten years after the start of the undertaking, Benvenuto Cellini’s Perseus with the Head of Medusa is one of the most famous Mannerist works. The subject depicts the hero of the myth after decapitating Medusa, whose head he holds in one hand. The curious story of the work is told by Cellini himself in his memoirs: not having the necessary funds to complete a bronze statue of such dimensions, he ended up melting down and using all the tinware he owned. The statue also conveyed a political message: commissioned by Grand Duke Cosimo I de’ Medici, it depicts him as he concludes with a clean cut the Republican era, personified by Medusa and the snakes emerging from her body.
