Reproduction of the bust of Giotto.
Craft artefact produced in Tuscany in white resin and marble powder, with wooden base.

Born in 1267 in Mugello, near Florence, Giotto was a painter and an architect. There are many legends regarding his innate drawing abilities. Vasari, in his The Lives of the Most Eminent Painters, claims that he was able to draw perfect circles without the use of a compass. He managed to bring the art of painting back to the natural dimension, as can be seen in the Ognissanti Madonna, housed in Le Gallerie degli Uffizi. The characters in his paintings are real people with recognisable feelings, and they fill the spatial dimension of the scene. He died in Florence in 1337.
