Wooden box entirely hand painted, simulating marble and hard stones. The decorative motifs are inspired by artifacts of the historic Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence.
The painting of the raw wood is made with plaster mixed with special glues: a traditional method used in the Middle Ages by painters. The subject is then drawn and then inlaid with a brass pencil. The color is spread in successive phases, up to fifteen layers, each time diluted with natural paint, to simulate the transparency of marble and soft and hard stones.
